A note from Syl Saller

As President of The Marketing Society I am proud to invite you to enter our second Brave Awards.

Marketing is an ever-evolving industry and we must adapt and develop to keep ahead - How brave do we need to be to guide our teams and business into the future? Our world is constantly changing and we must find new solutions to the global challenges that all our organisations face.

Our Brave Awards will recognise those that are leading the way in this new marketing world either as individuals, through the campaigns they produce or the new and creative solutions they put in place to achieve results.

We are still looking for effectiveness and marketing excellence; all marketing activity should be effective - that is our day job - but what we really want to see are your exceptional marketing stories that truly demonstrate brave leadership in action.

The judges will be a highly experienced group of marketing practitioners and I am honoured to be leading the panel through the process once again.

This year our panel of esteemed judges will be led by Syl Saller, the Marketing Society's president and former chief marketing and innovation officer, Diageo.

Former CMO

Diageo is the world's leading premium drinks business with a collection of beverage alcohol. Syl has been Marketing Society President since 2017 and was formerly chief marketing officer of Diageo. She is also our Awards 2021 Chair of Judges.

Joint Managing Director
Team Bahrain McLaren

John has thirty years’ experience working with some of the world’s most respected brands. An Australian based in the UK since 2003, John was the CEO (UK) and a Global Board Director of Interbrand, before joining iconic British brand McLaren in 2007.

GB&I Marketing Director

Aedamar began her career in stockbroking before taking a sales role in Coca-Cola Hellenic (CCH) in 1996, where she held a number of sales, category management, channel management and CCH brand management roles.

Group Brand Director

Michelle has spent equal time in creative agencies and client marketing jobs, including leadership roles at McCann-Erickson, BBDO and BBH working across brands such as Barclays, British Airways and Coca-Cola.


Ruth is Chief Marketing Officer for NTT. Responsible for leading NTT’s marketing function, she is accountable for marketing strategies and policies...


Keith spent the last 24 years at Santander, and was most recently its CMO and a member of its UK Executive Committee. He joined Santander in 1995 as Group Marketing Manager and worked his way up. He's now CMO at Camelot.

Marketing Director
John Lewis

Becky is an award-winning marketer attracted to challenging roles and the opportunity to make a difference. Management Today selected her as one of 2015's '35 women under 35', and she has won multiple awards from Retail Week, Marketing Week Data Strategy.

Sainsbury's and Argos

Originally from Northern Ireland, Mark graduated with a Masters Degree in Civil Engineering. After a long chat with a Brand Manager at a recruitment fair he decided to turn his back on the construction industry and started with P&G as Asst.

Martin George

George sits on the board and looks after all aspects of marketing and customer relations. He arrived from the Post Office, where he spent three years as commercial director, a role he previously held at British Airways.

Chief Executive

Prior to Thinkbox Lindsey had roles at advertising agencies including McCann Erickson and J Walter Thompson, working on some of the industry’s biggest clients and most famous TV-advertised brands.

Director of Marketing
Formula 1

Prior to F1 Ellie had been at Virgin Media for five years, initially as head of advertising and online, adding sponsorship to her portfolio in 2014. Before this, she spent seven years in marketing and communications roles at Honda.

Over 35 years in marketing and sales leadership roles with Unilever (based in London, Cairo and Paris), PepsiCo as VP Marketing Europe and Walkers as VP Marketing UK.

Director, Customer and Revenue
Transport for London

In 2012 he oversaw the Marketing of transport in London to help deliver what was generally recognised as the most successful ever Olympic and Paralympic Games.

General Manager
Birds Eye UK

Steve is the GM of Birds Eye UK, the brand leader in UK Frozen Foods, encompassing the Birds Eye, Aunt Bessie’s and Goodfella’s brands. He has spent over 20 years in the FMCG industry, starting his career at Unilever.

Global CMO - Consumer Healthcare

Tamara has 25 years industry experience working with brands, including her time at Unilever where her most recent role was EVP of Personal Care North America building purpose-driven brands such as Love Beauty & Planet, Dove, Axe, Tresemme and Vaseline.


Marketing Director

Page has worked with Moneysupermarket as a consultant since September 2018. He was previously director of brand at Virgin Media, which he joined in 2016 from John Lewis.
