John Allert, Joint Managing Director, Team Bahrain McLaren
John Allert has thirty years’ experience working with some of the world’s most respected brands. An Australian based in the UK since 2003, John was the CEO (UK) and a Global Board Director of Interbrand, before joining iconic British brand McLaren in 2007. At McLaren John led the brand team that took the marque into the luxury automotive sector and oversaw the award-winning brand and marketing for the McLaren F1 racing team - working with F1 drivers Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button and Fernando Alonso, all of whom appeared in McLaren’s pioneering animated series, Tooned.
John was appointed to the McLaren Board in 2015, and to the role of Chief Marketing Officer in 2016. In 2018, John launched McLaren’s bravest sports marketing initiative yet, taking the brand into the elite level of pro cycling – the UCI WorldTour, in which it will compete as Team Bahrain McLaren from 2020. A frequent speaker on sports marketing and branding, John was appointed to the British Government’s Sports Business Council in 2017, and as a Fellow of the Marketing Society in 2016.
